Trade body members having to re-book flights after business-class only airline suspends operations. Those members of industry trade body LIMA who took advantage of a special discounted rate to Licensing International with Silverjet are hunting around for new flights today, after the news that the Luton-based business class airline had suspended all operations.
Kelvyn Gardner, MD of LIMA UK, told Licensing.biz that he would like to apologise to all those members who may have booked flights to the show with the carrier.
"All those who paid by credit card should be able to get a refund from their card provider," he said. "In terms of substitute flights, we are aware that there is still abundant capacity on the regular carriers in their economy cabins, and some availability still in business and premium economy cabins.
"Whilst I have no fuller or official explanation for members, it can be imagined that the current sky-high oil prices may well have been the last straw for Silverjet, whose product, for those of us who have sampled it before, was of excellent quality at a highly competitive price.
"We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to our members, and to the loss of a valued LIMA promotional partner. We hope and trust that you will all find suitable substitute flights for licensing show."
