Ben Lowe, Jason Easy and Katie Bell finished their challenge during the 2017 London Marathon.
Ben Lowe, account manager at sock manufacturer SockMine, and Jason Easy and Katie Bell from the BBC, have raised £14,040 for the Light Fund in their 'six marathons in six days' challenge.
The trio started their challenge on April 18th, where they ran the equivalent of five marathon distances – 131 miles.
On the last day, they all took part in the 2017 London Marathon, clocking up 470 miles as a team and more than 157 miles individually.
“It feels incredible to have achieved this feat and to have raised so much for charity in the process,” said Lowe.
“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported us throughout the challenge, especially all those who were generous with their donations. My family and friends were a great support, as were my teammates Jason and Katie, and my dad, Martin, who was our driver, coach, motivator and in charge of supporters’ logistics throughout.”
Specialist socks from SockMine also helped to keep the trio blister-free during their run, which are designed to keep the wearer’s feet cool, dry, comfortable and injury-free.
Lowe added: “We pride ourselves on the way that SockMine socks care for your feet, enabling athletes of all abilities to compete harder and for longer. It’s certainly true in this case."
