Firm acquires US TV, home entertainment, licensing and merchandising rights for property.
The recently formed SMC Entertainment has acquired The Jungle Book.
The firm has picked up all North American TV, home entertainment, licensing and merchandising rights, as well as all promotional rights, to the CGI animated series, plus a one-hour feature from DQ Entertainment International.
In addition, SMC has also acquired the master toy rights for Australia and New Zealand, and licensing and merchandising rights for South Africa for The Jungle Book.
On top of this, Lisa Streff (pictured) has taken on the newly created role of SVP of licensing at SMC. She will be responsible for overseeing all consumer products initiatives for SMC's brands in the US, including licensing and merchandising, marketing and partnership initiatives.
"I am excited to play an integral role in building an entertainment business and to have the opportunity to launch The Jungle Book to a new generation of children that will experience its magic," said Streff, who has previously enjoyed stints at John Wayne Enterprises and Cookie Jar Entertainment.
