Star Trek/Doctor Who crossover comic launches

IDW Publishing licensed comic hits shelves and digital iBook platform.

A new comic combining the mammoth sci-fi properties Star Trek and Doctor Who has topped the Apple iBook graphic novel chart.

The comic, Star Trek: The Next Generation/Doctor Who: Assimilation 2, was released this week as both a print edition and downloadable version. Robot 6 reports it is the first single-issue comic to do so.

IDW obtained the rights to both the Star Trek and Doctor Who licences for the comic from CBS and the BBC respectively. It’s available now on the App Store and is priced at £2.99.

“By joining these two sci-fi powerhouses, fans will be taken on the ultimate adventure through time and space,” said Liz Kalodner, exec VP and general manager of CBS Consumer Products.

The eight-issue comic series has been written by Scott and David Tipton, the authors of Star Trek: Infestation, along with Doctor Who writer Tony Lee.
