Target signs Invizimals and Eyepet deals

The agent for the PlayStation IPs has signed several new European licences.

A multi-territory deal with IGS will see the firm make a range of plush toys and gifts from October. The initial line will include plush key chains, beanies and animated, sound-activated and regular plush toys.

Target has previously worked with IGS on other Playstation properties, LittleBigPlanet, Rachet and Clank and Buzz.

For Invizimals, deals include Safta S.A. for stationery and back to school items and Comansi for mini figurines in Spain and Portugal. Edibas collections will make trading card games and figurines in Italy.

In January, Panini released a trading card game, stickers and albums in Spain, Portugal and France, sales of which have exceeded six million units. Panini has also licensed the brand for the UK and the rest of Europe.

Helen Howells at Target Entertainment said: “Children have really taken the brand to their hearts and we’re thrilled by the incredible consumer take-up of Invizimals across Europe. Will this be the next big boys’ action brand? If current sales are anything to go by we definitely think so."

Invizimals is a PSP augmented reality game where the handheld's camera reveals monsters within the real world. Kids can capture and train 120 Invizimals to do battle with friends or others online.

In Eyepet for the PS3, kids interact with pets using the console’s Move and Eye camera accessories.
