Firm signs its first deal with Al Jazeera Children?s Channel (JCC) to make a new kids game show.
The Foundation, part of Zodiak Media Group, has been commissioned by JCC to produce a new 115 x 30’ children’s action game show to broadcast on Al Jazeera Children’s Channel.
The firm will be producing The Buzzer (working title) out of Twofour54’s Studios in Abu Dhabi and will go into production in January 2011 and air on JCC from September 2011.
Filmed in ‘Buzzer City’, the new series features mentally and physically challenging games and puzzles. Two teams of three go head-to-head over four rounds to win their way to the final where they get the chance to win prizes if they hit the ‘Ultimate Buzzer’ at the top of the tower.
The series will be presented in Arabic and hosted by Saeed Sarhan, who co-hosted JCC’s children’s game show Addarb (The Trail).
This production will be executively produced by Nigel Pickard as he assumes his new responsibilities for Zodiak Middle East/Asia/Australasia (MEAA), in addition to his existing role as group director, kids and family entertainment, UK, Zodiak Media Group.
As CEO of Zodiak MEAA/UK Family and Kids, Pickard will oversee the Group’s Mumbai-based production company Sol India and any future operations in the Middle East, Asia and Australasia.
Pickard commented: “I am excited to be taking the helm of our first Zodiak Middle East commission and working with JCC on this project.
"The Buzzer is an exciting new format and coupled with fact that we will be using Twofour54’s state-of-the-art production facilities make it an extremely exciting series to be producing.”
The Buzzer is produced by Steve Pinhay and directed by Tony Grech for The Foundation. The executive producers are Nigel Pickard and Ged Allen for the Foundation and Malika Alouane for JCC.
Format rights for The Buzzer are jointly owned by Zodiak Rights and Al Jazeera Children’s Channel (JCC).
