Tomy celebrates record-breaking sales figures for Pokémon

The firm has seen sales surge a 'staggering' 114 per cent as Pokémon celebrates its 20th birthday with limited edition lines and new plush.

Tomy has reported record-breaking sales figures for its latest Pokémon product range of action figures and plush characters.

The master toy licensee for the hit animated franchise has seen the UK year-to-date Pokémon EPOS sales sure ‘a staggering 114 per cent’ with first quarter results performing at more than double that of last year.

The results arrive as the toy maker celebrates the milestone 20th anniversary of Pokémon with a range of limited edition action figures and plush as the property continues to prove popular among fans.

Throughout the year, Tomy is working with retailers to release exclusive products, allowing fans to collect unique and limited edition Pokémon characters.

“We are very excited to be part of Pokémon’s 20 year celebrations,” said Eleanor Bridgman, Europe head of brand, boys and entertainment from Tomy.

“Not only does it allow us the opportunity to plan a full year of dedicated activity, which is already producing some great results at retail, but it also affords us a fantastic opportunity to expand our product range and reach fans in new channels.

“We’re thrilled that Tomy gets to bring the incredible Pokémon to life in a range of figures, plush and more.”

Tomy’s 2016 range features fan favourites such as Pikachu in new feature plush form as well as larger scale characters boasting increased articulation.
