Doctor Who, BBC Earth, BBC Good Food and Dancing with the Stars headline slate.
BBC Worldwide is returning to Licensing International this week, highlighting the key developments for its top brands including Doctor Who, Top Gear, BBC Earth and Dancing with the Stars.
The firm will be beginning its build up to the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who in November 2013, with the property taking centre stage on the booth. With over 100 licensees in 2011 and more additions in the first half of 2012, the brand extends to several categories including home furnishings, comic books, board games, on/offline video games, home textiles, calendars, seasonal décor, construction toys, science toys, powered ride-ons, collector sculptures and wide ranges of new clothing designs for adults and children.
After the success of the in-store signing with the series' stars at Barnes & Noble in Manhattan, the nationwide bookstore has developed a summer promotion featuring Doctor Who merchandise including Blu-rays and DVDs, books, t-shirts, toys, gifts, mugs and action figures.
Other recent US licensees include IDW (comic book), Her Universe (junior apparel/sleepwear), Robe Factory and USAopoly.
Meanwhile, BBC Earth will also be a key focus, with Walking With Dinosaurs 3D being a major highlight. The original series became a global hit in 1999, using state of the art CGI animation to bring to life a prehistoric world for more than 700 million viewers in over 130 countries. The 3D movie is due to be released in 2013.
Other highlights on the BBC booth will be Dancing with the Stars (the US version of Strictly Come Dancing), BBC Good Food, Deadly 60, Lonely Planet and Top Gear.
