Successful slate of films in 2007 helps make company number one film distributor in the territory.Following such box office successes as Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Ocean's 13, Fred Claus and Beowulf, Warner Bros Pictures has become the UK's number one distributor.
The company ended 2007 with a 15.7 per cent market share, according to president and MD of Warner Bros UK, Josh Berger.
"Warner Bros UK begins 2008 in a unique position to capitalise on this industry-leading stand with a host of great movies - including Speed Racer, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and The Dark Knight," said Berger.
In 2007, the Harry Potter films became the highest grossing franchise in cinema history, with the worldwide box office overtaking both the Star Wars and James Bond franchises.
Notably, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix was the biggest selling film of the year following the biggest ever four-day opening in the UK.
In addition to the UK figures, Warner Bros Pictures International was the number one studio in 2007, grossing an estimated $2.240 billion - marking a new industry record for the highest international gross for a single studio/distributor.
The company is currently focusing on 10,000BC (which opens in March), while Speed Racers will hit cinemas in May and in July Batman: The Dark Knight arrives.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is due in November.
