IP services company to manage licensing activities for country stars.
GreenLight has been named as the exclusive third party licensor to the personality rights to Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash.
The deal includes their name, image, likeness, signatures and characterisations used in advertising, promotions and merchandising. The duo join other celebrities including Steve McQueen and Albert Einstein in the company’s catalogue.
“Johnny and June are icons the world over who gained legions of adoring fans with their distinctive and enduring mix of country, rock, blues, folk and gospel music,” said David Reeder, GreenLight VP. “We are honoured to have the opportunity to extend their legacy.”
Bob Sullivan, so-trustee of the estate held by their families, added: “Johnny was the personification of country music to many, but was not tied to a single genre, while June is undoubtedly one of the greatest women in country music. Both June and Johnny enjoyed illustrious careers, and we are proud to continue highlighting their artistic achievements through our relationship with GreenLight.”
