Fame takes number one spot

Early estimates of the movie's first weekend UK gross are hovering around the $4.3 million mark, meaning it outstripped its nearest rivals and beat the first weekend’s takings of last week’s number one, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Rocket Licensing is handling licensing opportunities for the new film in the UK market and joint managing director, Rob Wijeratna, told Licensing.Biz: “The Fame licensing programme enjoyed a great response even before the film’s release, with publishing and apparel leading a strong line-up of categories that extends to nightwear, stationery, confectionery and many others.

"And now the excellent response to the film and, we confidently expect, to the DVD release next year, is certain to sustain the brand’s momentum for some time."
