Chocolate Liberation Front, Hahn Film and Toonz Entertainment in India have teamed to produce a new children’s CGI animated series.
Called 1001 Nights: The Untold Stories, the series is based on the classic Arabian Nights tales, with the first 13 episodes of the total 26 scheduled to launch in early 2016.
The series is being produced for Network Ten in Australia and is being distributed by Telepool/Global Screen, it will also be broadcast in Germany by ARD represented by RBB.
The series will follow the adventures of Sherazade who embarks on a quest to find her friend Karim who – when turned into a huge blue monster – is dethroned by his own brother.
“Companies generally don’t make shows like this anymore,” said Dan Fill at CLF. “It really has everything: magical creatures, seafaring adventures, huge musical numbers, a cast of nearly 100 characters and some top shelf visual effects. It really I an epic show.”
Toonz CEO, P Jayakumar, added: “1001 Nights is a wonderful show. Hahn Film set a high benchmark in its design quality which Toonz has translated beautifully into our production quality.
