Character World to host charity ball

Character World is to host a Diamond Masquerade Charity Ball next week, raising money for a charity that trains specialist dogs to save lives.

Medical Detection Dogs trains the animals to detect changes in odours associated with certain medical events and conditions such as cancer, diabetes and epilepsy.

The event will take place at the Hallmark Hotel, Cheadle on Thursday February 28th, with Character World hosting over 200 people including licensing firms such as Disney, Hasbro, Warner Bros, Nickelodeon, Hit, Fluid, eOne and Mind Candy. The Light Fund will also receive a percentage of money raised.

A variety of acts will perform including comedian Paul Zenon and tribute group The Black Eyed Teaz. A real diamond supplied by Donns Jewellers will be raffled off on the night and there will be a charity auction.

"The idea for the ball was originally born from a challenge posed to a team of Character World managers as part of an internal training course to work together to raise at least £5,000 for a charity of their choice," explained Danny Schweiger, joint MD at Character World. "Medical Detection Dogs is a charity close to my heart as my niece suffers from severe Diabetes Type 1.

"I cannot express the importance of the work this charity does and how much the money raised will mean to them. It’s fantastic that such a great mix of people from the licensing industry are coming together for this event."
