Stephen Gould – commercial director at Ragdoll Worldwide and well-known industry swimmer – is taking part in the Henley Classic in June in aid of The Light Fund, and is looking for execs to join him.
This is a 2.1km endurance upstream swim in the Thames on the Henley Royal Regatta rowing course. It will take place on Sunday June 30th.
The event attracts almost 1,000 participants from all over the world. This year, there will also be an elite race, which is promising to attract top athletes from across Europe and the UK including Graham Bell, Karen Pickering and Richard Stannard.
Gould is hoping to get at least another nine people to take part and raise money for The Light Fund.
It provides an amazing opportunity to swim one of the most famous and beautiful stretches of open water, before the rowers take over – although this does mean a 4.30am start time.
Camping is permitted on the banks of the river at Henley-on-Thames the night before the race.
The recommendation is that entrants are capable of comfortably carrying out regular continuous pool swims of 3km, and have already done a number of open water swims.
Those entering the race on behalf of The Light Fund should volunteer the name of Stephen Gould as the person who recommended the event.
Swimmers will be responsible for their own fundraising and www.justgiving.com is being recommended, c/o The Light Fund Registered Charity No 1145596
