JumpStart has launched new online educational multiplayer game School of Dragons, which is based on DreamWorks Animation’s How To Train Your Dragon franchise.
The firm says that it is one of the first massively multiplayer online role playing games to incorporate basic science educational features in its gameplay.
School of Dragons blends together three fields – film, online games and television – to create an immersive online gaming experience for children. They can interact, play and learn with characters from the film, such as Hiccup and his dragon, Toothless.
As players traim their own dragons and become fierce viking adventurers in the game, they will learn key concepts in the scientific method through activities based on earth, life and physical sciences.
"There is no other game like School of Dragons – it’s epic, fun and gives fans of How To Train Your Dragon another way to experience their favourite characters," said David Lord, CEO of JumpStart.
Jim Mainard, head of digital strategy for DreamWorks Animation, added: "We are pleased to see the How To Train Your Dragon adventure extended in this beautifully crafted game experience that will engage and educate Dragon fans."
