Toot the Tiny Tugboat is to set sail on Channel 5’s children’s entertainment programme, Milkshake as the broadcaster signs for 52 episodes of the animated series.
Adapted from the book Toot an Pop by Sebastien Braun, published by HarperCollins, the animation targeting children aged four to seven will transmit on the channel in 2014/15.
Toot the Tiny Tugboat from Lupus Films follows the adventures of Toot and his friends as he tugs boats from the Harbour to the sea and rescues ships in distress.
"We are thrilled to be working with Lupus Films to bring this lovely series to screen," said Jessica Symons, Channel 5’s head of children’s.
"Toot will complement Milkshake’s other output perfectly and we’re certain that our young viewers will quickly climb on board to enjoy Toot’s humorous adventures out on the water."
With an emphasis on slapstick fun and adventure, the writing team is helmed by Noddy in Toy Town, Commander Clark and Tree Fu Tom writer, Ian Carney.
Ruth Fielding, the producer for Lupus Films, said: "We’re sure the humour and excitement in Toot the Tiny Tugboat will capture the imagination of the Milkshake audience and we can’t wait to set sail with the series."
