HarperCollins picks up Judith Kerr’s The Crocodile Under the Bed

HarperCollins Children’s Books has acquired Judith Kerr’s new picture book, The Crocodile Under the Bed.

World rights, including film, TV and merchandising, were acquired by Rachel Denwood, publishing and creative director at HarperCollins.

The Crocodile Under the Bed will be showcased at Bologna in March and will be published in hardback in October 2014.

The book follows a boy called Matty who find himself too unwell to go to a party, but while at home, a crocodile appears from under his bed. Matty and his new friend then set out on an adventure.

“We are so proud to be the home of Judith’s Kerr’s iconic picture book canon, and everyone at HarperCollins looks forward to this new publication with great excitement," said Denwood.

"It will be one of the publishing events of the year.

"Judith’s books have delighted millions of readers the world over and I have no doubt that the splendid The Crocodile Under the Bed will be a firm favourite for years to come.”
