Nelvana signs with BBC for new animation, Sidekick

Nelvana Enterprises has signed a new broadcast deal with the BBC for its animated series, Sidekick.

The series is now scheduled to air on the UK public broadcaster’s children’s channel, CBBC from summer this year.

Produced by Nelvana, Sidekick airs around the globe and follows the adventures of Eric Needles, a superhero sidekick who has to take the lead when his boss, Maxum Man goes missing.

Accompanied by his friend Trevor, the pair must face the challenge of stepping up to defend the planet until Maxum Man returns.

Owned by Corus Entertainment, Nelvana is comprised of Nelvana Studio and its distribution arm, Nelvana Enterprises.

The studio now boasts a roster of award-winning renowned brands including comedies, pre-school titles and boys action series.
