Gosh! Designs to launch new Bagpuss plush and giftware ranges

Coolabi Group and Smallfilms have signed a new licensing partnership with Gosh! Designs for a new Bagpuss plush and giftware range.

This partnerships is being supported by new marketing initiatives including increased digital and social media presence, promotional events and a new style guide.

The new ranges will launch at Spring Fair next year and will include novelty plush hats, plush back packs, key chains, door stops and ceramics such as travel mugs and coasters.

Products will be available in-store from Spring 2015.

"We love that old, saggy cloth cat here at Gosh! Designs," said Steve Beverley, buyer at Gosh! Designs.

"Bagpuss is a timeless classic and we are excited to showcase the new product range at Spring Fair. At 40 years young, Bagpuss is a British treasure that remains as popular as ever with fans of all ages."

A new Bagpuss style guide featuring classic artwork by Peter Firmin with new vintage styling will be available from January 2015 to appeal to original fans of the show. It also includes new contemporary images designed to attract a younger audience.

Elsewhere, Bagpuss is going digital with a new official gaming app created by Daredevil Development for iOS and Android. Featuring 16 games, classic animation and sounds from the original series, the new app blends ‘education, action and creativity’.

“Bagpuss continues to be a hot property even after 40 years," said Coolabi’s Fran Huxley.

"We look forward to working with Gosh! Designs and seeing the reaction to the new product ranges at Spring Fair next year. Bagpuss is the most important, the most beautiful, the most magical, saggy old cloth cat in the whole wide world.”
