Disney teams with Bloomingdale’s for Force 4 Fashion Star Wars charity campaign

Disney has teamed with US retailer Bloomingdale’s and a host of designers to launch a Star Wars-themed fashion range for charity.

The new fashion meets fundraising initiative called Force 4 Fashion takes inspiration from the upcoming movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ own costume designer, Michael Kaplan among other big fashion names.

Cynthia Rowley, Giles Deacon and Timo Weiland are among those each creating an outfit to be auctioned off for charity, each design paying homage to characters from Disney’s new movie.

Money raised from the initiative will go towards children’s charity, Child Mind Institute, a pioneer for children’s mental health in the US.

“This collaboration celebrates the distinctive synergy between film and fashion in the run up to an exceptional moment in the history of pop culture,” said Leslie Ferraro, co-chair, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media and president, Disney Consumer Products.

“We are excited to see how this incredible line up of designers interprets Star Wars characters in unique ways, as well as to raise money for a great cause.”

The new collection will be revealed at a Force 4 Fashion launch event in New Your City on December 2nd, before going on display in Bloomingdale’s NYC flagship windows the following day.

“Bloomingdale’s is thrilled to join forces with such a historic yet continually ground breaking film,” said Anne Keating, Bloomingdale’s senior vice president of public relations, special events and philanthropy.

“We are excited to fuse fashion with pop culture to raise awareness and funds for our long standing partner, Child Mind Institute, which has been a pioneer for children’s mental health.”
