Sony’s Barbie movie gets May 2017 release date

Sony Pictures has confirmed that the Barbie movie will land in cinemas across the US from May 12th, 2017.

The release date has been announced following a reshuffle of the studio’s 2017 movie schedule for three of its upcoming features including the big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower.

The title, starring Idris Elba as the gun-slinging Roland Deschain, will now hit screens on February 17, 2017, moving Sony’s Bad Boys 3 to a later release date of June 2, 2017.

A culmination of the shifts now in place, the Barbie movie has been moved up three weeks to a May 12, 2017 release. Currently without a director, the script or Barbie has been penned by Jenny Bicks and Diablo Cody.
