Fremantle Media International scores hat trick of SVOD platforms in Asia

Fremantle Media International has secured a multitude of new deals with leading SVOD platforms across Asia.

Popular titles from the firm’s catalogue, including the likes of American Idol, X Factor UK and The IT Crowd will now be available on iflix, DOONEE and iQiyi Taiwan, taking the total number of hours of content sold to over 1000.

Iflix has acquired over 400 hours of drama, comedy, factual documentary and lifestyle while the Thailand based DOONEE has signed for almost 300 hours of entertainment and lifestyle programming including American Idol.

Finally, iQiyi Taiwan has secured over 350 hours of content.

Haryaty Rahman, SVP of sales and distribution, Asia for FMI, said: “The consumer viewing habits have completely changed in Asia and this ever evolving TV landscape has presented a lot of interesting and advantageous opportunities for us.

“Over the last few years we have seen a year-on-year growth in our revenues from sales to OTT platforms and we’re expecting the percentage of deals to these partners to continue to rise.”
