Deer Little Forest gets new screen name in Flora of the Forest

Deer Little Forest is heading to the small screen under the new title, Flora of the Forest.

Flora of the Forest will encompass the pre-school TV series and its ancillary rights while Deer Little Forest will evolve as a separate lifestyle brand.

Three time Emmy-winning creative executive Karen Fowler has joined as showrunner of Flora of the Forest. Fowler was the force behindThe Electric Company’s reinvention and has previously held positions at Nickelodeon, CBC and Sesame Workshop.

"As soon as I laid eyes on Jo’s original art, I fell in love with the project,” said Fowler.

“Breathing life into this seven year old animal loving, tree hugging, universe exploring adventurer girl and reimagining her world is just soooo satisfying."

Koko Rose Media’s managing director, Lisa Hryniewicz, added: “Karen’s ability to bring a palpable sense of fun and wonder to screen has resulted in a world of infinite possibilities and highly original, aspirational characters – from independent Flora and her awesome mom, to the domesticated boy badger, and the meditating fox.

“Children and parents alike will undoubtedly find brand new friends in Flora’s Forest.”

The Deer Little Forest brand will now encompass Jo’s more esoteric animal and nature designs, focusing on homewares and lifestyle.

The brand is currently being rolled out across digital platforms, publishing and consumer products. With licensing agents in 13 countries including the US, Canada, Germany, China, and South East Asia, Deer Little Forest characters already feature in magazines, pre-school app, greeting cards, housewares and more.
