Ghostbusters spooks rivals to top UK box office

Sony’s Ghostbusters reboot has topped the UK box office.

While it debuted behind The Secret Life of Pets over in the US, here in the UK the reboot entered in at number one at the box office, with an opening of £4.4m.

Elsewhere, Fox’s Ice Age: Collision Course charted second in its first week on release, making £3.78m. It marks a decline from the last Ice Age movie, 2012’s Ice Age: Continental Drift, which debuted at the UK box office with £10.09m.

Sticking with animation, Universal’s The Secret Life of Pets has passed Zootropolis to become the UK’s highest grossing animated film of 2016 so far. It has made £25.74m in four weeks.
