Rogue One releases to $290 million worldwide box office debut

Rogue One: A Star Wars story has enjoyed a stellar opening weekend, taking $290 million worldwide.

The film has exceeded Disney’s projected debut in the range of $120 million to $150 million, taking $155 million in North America alone.

Rogue One has taken £16.8m at the UK box office and is yet to open in China and South Korea.

Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst at comScore, said the film exceeded expectations and commented that "the next film in the Star Wars saga has the potential to claim the title as the biggest movie of all time."
