Popular pre-school series Octonauts is taking the Chinese market by storm with a record more than 4.1 billion on demand TV views since launch.
In the toy space, the property has seen similar success with sales up over 350 per cent.
Since launching on-air in Mainland China, Octonauts has clocked up the 4.1 billion views on China’s most popular online TV channels including Tencent, Youku and iQiYi.
Over the last five months, online views have increased by more than one billion.
Meanwhile, toys are driving the brand’s licensing programme in China with sales up 350 per cent in 2016.
In a further development for the territory, the international TV production and licensing company, Silvergate Media has formed a partnership with Mattel China in October 2016.
The deal will see Mattel China manage the Octonauts consumer products and retail programme in China in partnership with local licensees.
Silvergate also plans to launch the first Octonauts movies in 2018, as well as expand the Octonauts brand through new partnerships in China with local mall events, attractions, hotels and aquariums in 2018.
