Disney Princess, Trolls and Magic: The Gathering boost Hasbro Q4 sales

Disney Princess, DreamWorks’ Trolls and hit franchise Magic: The Gathering have all helped global toymaker Hasbro to record holiday-quarter revenue.

Hasbro sales have been boosted since the firm won a lucrative 10 year contract for dolls based on Walt Disney Co’s popular princesses such as Cinderella and Frozen’s Elsa from Mattel in 2014.

The company has stated that revenue from the girls’ category has jumped 52 per cent in the fourth quarter ended December 25th.

Global sales of its board games also rose 11 per cent, driven by demand for its franchise brand Magic: The Gathering, as well as the popular party game Pie Face.

Hasbro’s revenue rose 11.2 per cent to $1.63 billion, beating analysts’ average estimate of $1.50 billion, according to Thomson Reuters.

Net income attributed to Hasbro rose to $192.73 million in the quarter from $175.76 million a year earlier.
