Disney World’s Avatar expansion dated

Disney’s CEO Bob Iger has revealed that Pandora: The World of Avatar will open May 27 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando, Florida.

Additionally, Iger also gave a launch window for the park’s Star Wars expansions in Walt Disney World (Florida) and Disneyland (California), which will both open in 2019. This will coincide with the release of the as yet untitled final chapter in the new trilogy, Star Wars Episode IX, which releases the same year.

Pandora: The World of Avatar will be based upon the fictional exoplanetary moon, Pandora from James Cameron’s Avatar film series, and will include Pandora’s floating mountains, alien wildlife, and bioluminescent plants. The expansion is expected to span 12 acres (4.9 ha) and feature multiple attractions, entertainment, audio-animatronics, 3-D holograms as well as retail, food and beverage outlets.
