Aftershock to develop Marvel universe mobile game

An all new mobile game inspired by the Marvel universe is on the way, following a deal between Marvel Entertainment and Aftershock.

Set to feature some of Marvel’s favourite superheroes and iconic villains, the RPG game will see players from around the world battle each other.

“Aftershock is creating something special and we are thrilled to finally announce this news,” said Jay Ong, SVP of games and innovation for Marvel Entertainment.

“The game will be the full package: an exciting storyline, epic moments with Marvel superheroes and super villains, and incredible visuals that truly bring our characters to life. It’s shaping up to be one of our biggest and boldest projects in our mobile portfolio, and we know it will exceed our fans’ expectations.”

The game will be developed at Aftershock’s LA studio, where industry veterans who have worked at the likes of EA, Blizzard and Riot will contribute to the game’s creation.

FoxNext Games acquired Aftershock as part of its strategy to develop new interactive experiences across mobile, consoles and AR/VR games.

Aaron Loeb, president of studios for FoxNext Games, added: “The Aftershock Los Angeles team, led by Amir Rahimi, is developing an explosive action mobile game set in the Marvel Universe that will feature an innovative game design with stunning graphics.

“To team up with Marvel on our first game at FoxNext Games is a dream partnership.”
