Shmaltz Brewing launches next generation of Star Trek beer

A New York-based brewery Shmaltz Brewing Ltd. has boldly gone where no beverage-maker has gone before and developed the first officially licensed line of Star Trek beer.

The latest addition to the alcoholic beverage line is an homage to Star Trek: The Next Generation, to celebrate the show’s 30th anniversary.

Last year the firm marked the 40th anniversary of the original show with The Trouble with Tribbles brew, which followed the first Star Trek-themed beer in the form of Vulcan Ale: The Genesis Effect.

The new drink is titled Symbiosis, after one of the show’s most famous episodes. This isn’t the first geek-culture inspired beverage the brewery has concocted, as the firm has produced beers themed after HBO’s fantasy mega-hit Game of Thrones for several years.
