Production company, The Cartel, is expanding its animation and family division with the hire of the 17 year industry veteran, Matthew Ellis.

In his new managerial role, Ellis will bring with him a catalogue of writers, directors, producers and artists specialising in animation and children’s programming.

For the past 13 years, Ellis was a talent agent at The Metropolis Agency where he was responsible for the representation of IP and staffing for artists and writers working in animation and children’s programming.

Ellis has sold projects to Aardman Animation, Cartoon Network, DHX Media, Disney, Disney Jr, The Jim Henson Company, Nickelodeon, Saban and more with titles including Pet Alien, Jim Henson’s Pajanimals, Secret Mountain Fort Awesome and Crowing Jules.

“As The Cartel continues to expand its management and production business, Matthew offers the company an opportunity to continue to grow our animation and family business,” said co-CEO, Stan Spry.

“In addition to bringing his great list of clients and network of contacts to the Cartel, he also offers new and exciting opportunities for our existing clients.”

Ellis’ roster of clients includes Shea Fontana (DC Super Hero Girls), Amy Keating Rogers (The Powerpuff Girls) and Doug Wood (Tree Fu Tom). He joins the Cartel on the heels of the company’s recent announcement of its new animated comedy series, Twelve Forever.
