WB drops first trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindlewald

Does a magical prequel sequel spell another hit for Warner Bros? If online hype is anything to go by that’s a resounding yes.

Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for the second instalment in the Fantastic Beasts franchise, subtitled The Crimes of Grindlewald.

Directed by Harry Potter alumni David Yates, the film continues the story of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) and his exploits in the wizarding world. The film also introduces Jude Law as a young Dumbledore and sees Johnny Depp reprise his role as the villainous dark wizard Grindlewald.

Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, which debuted in November 2016 has proved a substantial hit for WB, grossing $800 million worldwide and spawning an extensive and varied licensed portfolio.

While the sequel has experienced some online backlash since its reveal, it is still expected to be a tentpole release when it drops on November 16th in the UK and US.
