Penguin Ventures and Vue partner for The Snowman 40th anniversary screenings

Penguin Ventures has detailed a new partnership with Vue, the latest move in its ongoing celebrations for 40 years of The Snowman.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Raymond Briggs’ classic picture book, 87 Vue venues across the UK and Ireland will be screening The Snowman followed by The Snowman and The Snowdog on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 December at 11am.

The Snowman was adapted for screen by producer John Coates in 1982 and shown on Channel 4 the same year and every year since. In 2012 the highly anticipated sequel was shown on television for the first time and saw The Snowman gain a canine companion in The Snowdog.

Izzy Richardson, head of brand management at Penguin Ventures, said: “A key ambition for us during the anniversary year was to partner with a cinema chain to create an event offering for families this Christmas.

"Vue is the perfect partner and have been able to roll out a nationwide double bill of both animations during the key festive period, allowing families to come together and experience the magic of these two brilliant films on the big screen.”

Johnny Carr, alternative content manager at Vue, added: “We are delighted to be partnering with Penguin Ventures to bring The Snowman and The Snowman and The Snow Dog to the big screen this Christmas.

"These two classic animations are fabulous entertainment for young and old and we’re thrilled to be able to bring this double bill to our customers nationwide in December”.
