Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions is heading to Nintendo Switch this year

UK success story Warhammer is tapping into the growing audience for its roleplay gameplay as it prepares to land on Nintendo Switch and Steam PC/Mac this year.

Games Workshop and PlayFusion have forged an alliance to bring the successful trading card game, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions to the video game platform, reinforcing the rampant success of both the physical and digital game to date.

Over the course of the game’s history, around 20 million physical Warhammer cards have been sold and over one million digital games played.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions is a modern collectable card game that presents a connected play experience by blending physical and digital card collections. Players scan physical cards into their collection to claim them and take them to conquer the battlefield.

“The team is utterly thrilled with the opportunity to bring Warhammer Champions to new audiences and new platforms,” said Mark Gerhard, CEO and co-founder of PlayFusion.

‘The response for the physical and digital game has already been incredible, and we just can’t wait to watch that grow to new heights. With the release of our set two cards in Onslaught, and a whole heap of new features we have planned, there’s always going to be something new to try.

“And now there will be a much bigger community to try with.”

Players will be able to learn the crafts of war in the robust tutorial then test their skills against AI or other players in Casual mode, AI challenges and ful narrative campaigns.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions comes to Steam in February and Nintendo Switch later this first quarter.
