Alien Day will celebrate 40 years of horror with chestbursting licensee line-up

From the first shocking appearance of the Chestburster, to its acid-secreting monster, Alien has written its own place in history as the definitive sci-fi horror film when it left movie-goers white-knuckled four decades ago.

Not only did Ridley Scott’s critically-acclaimed and Academy-Award winning title define cinema of the 80s, but it quickly went on to spawn a global franchise of record-breaking movies, video games, graphic novels, consumer products and more.

To celebrate its lasting legacy, this year, 20th Century Fox has launched a tribute comprising new stories, exclusive exhibits and one of a kind experiences for fans.

Culminating on April 26th, Alien Day devotees will rally for the fourth year running for 24 hours of worldwide fanfare. Fans can participate by sharing personal memories or recreations of their favourite moments for a chance to become part of the 40 Year legacy.

Over the next two weeks, fans can continue to experience the Alien 40th Anniversary Shorts, a series of new narratives from six emerging filmmakers selected from over 550 entries through a 20th Century Fox partnership with creator community Tongal.  The first short debuted on March 29th, and the final two thrillers – Alien: Alone and Alien: Harvest – will be unearthed on Alien Day itself.

And Alien Day won’t come without its raft of exclusive consumer product now in development from some of the biggest names in pop culture, including NECA, Funko, Diamond Select, Dark Horse, Audible, Weta Workshop, Zen Studios and D3 Go.

Also on the roster is The Loyal Subjects, Upper Deck, Changes, Loot Crate, Super 7, Acme Archives, Wonderdice, Mondo, Fanattik, Sideshow and Rubies. The list still doesn’t end there, with the likes of Gale Force Nine, Macmillan, Monogram, CoolProps and Good Smile Company also on board.

Highlights include a comprehensive and definitive volume on the making of Alien from Titan Books, a new line of Alien Pop! Figures from Funko, limited edition giclée prints from Acme Archives & Dark Ink, and a selection of apparel and merchandise.

20th Century Fox has also teased a partnership with Audible, to be revealed in the coming weeks.
