Magic Light secures major worldwide broadcasters for The Snail and the Whale

Magic Light Pictures has detailed a raft of pre-sales for its new half-hour animated special, The Snail and the Whale to broadcasters across Europe, Australia and Africa.

The latest small-screen adaptation from the world of published Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler titles, The Snail and the Whale will premier in the UK on BBC One as a highlight of its 2019 Christmas schedule.

In Germany, the special will air on ZDF, while other confirmed pre-sales include France Televisions, SVT Sweden, DR Denmark, RTE Ireland, ABC Australia, Showmax Africa, Czech Televisions, Noga Israel, VPRO Netherlands, and RTV Slovenia.

The Snail and the Whale follows the journey of a snail and its desire to see the world as it managed to hitch a ride on the tail of a humpback whale.

“The Snail and the Whale is a great classic children’s book and we are delighted to bring it to screen with the support of broadcasters worldwide,” said Michael Rose, co-founder of Magic Light Pictures.

“Our brave little snail longs to travel around the world, and now he will.”

The half hour special is currently in production.
