ABC hints at new Star Wars and Marvel TV content

ABC Entertainment has hinted at the possibility of bringing a new Star Wars television series to the network.

The firm’s president Channing Dungey outlined the vision in a conference earlier this week, in which she also indicated that the network will be looking to secure more Marvel content.

Dungey told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour that talks with Disney’s Lucasfilm division were ongoing and without an official timeline.

“As a fan I would absolutely love to say yes,” she said. “We have had conversations with Lucas and we will continue to have conversations with them. I think it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend that brand into our programming.”

The president also hinted that after the cancelation of one of its two Marvel series, Agent Carter, the network may be working on a new strategy for the Super Hero franchise.

“We all came to the agreement that the next show we want to do together is something that is as creatively strong as it can be,” Dungey said of discussions with Marvel.

According to Variety, Dungey made her first appearance at press tour since being named entertainment president of ABC in February this year, following the departure of former network chief, Paul Lee.
