American Girl readies new non-fiction books

Global book publisher DK has revealed it is teaming up with American Girl to launch a series of new non-fiction books.

DK’s first licensed title, The American Girl Ultimate Visual Guide, tells the story of American Girl, from the original idea to the development of the company’s bestselling doll lines.

"DK is thrilled to partner with American Girl, whose dedication to bringing to life history and culture through play and learning so closely aligns with ours," said Simon Beecroft, publishing director of licensing at DK.

"We are eager to share these books with a new generation of children who are discovering American Girl for the first time, as well as adult collectors and fans from years past."

Each page will boast DK’s visual approach, which aims to capture the American Girl dolls range.

The American Girl Ultimate Visual Guide has also been filled with never-before-published anecdotes from the American Girl team and information about how the dolls were created.

Julia Prohaska, VP of marketing for American Girl, added: “American Girl and DK are both committed to creating entertaining and informative content.

"Working with DK on this new collection provides the perfect opportunity to present our characters and brand story to readers in a bold new way."
