Amy Schumer to feature in live-action Barbie movie

Comedian and actress Amy Schumer is set to star in the upcoming live-action Barbie film from Sony.

The film, which is expected to begin production in spring, will see Schumer take on the role of the iconic Mattel doll.

The movie will focus on issues in a story that starts in a perfect land of Barbies, where one woman notices that she doesn’t fit in.

Around a year ago, Sony hired three scribes to pen the script, while producers including Walter F. Parkes, Laurie MacDonald and Amy Pascal and Mattel have teamed up for the project.

Sony is also on the look out for a producer of the live-action film, which will hit cinemas in 2018.
