An olde world independent retailer dedicated to selling some more than 500 Harry Potter and Wizarding World products has been shortlisted in this year’s Best Small Shops in the UK awards.
Oliver’s Brighton has been nominated in the public vote to head to the final round of the UK-wide competition, an initiative run by Indie Retail, that hunts for and celebrates the UK’s best from its eclectic and typically eccentric retail space.
After hundreds of entrants, thousands of consumer votes and a panel of industry experts, the shortlist for this year’s Best Small Shops in the UK has finally been selected. Oliver’s Brighton features among a mix of indie retailers that includes bike shops, bakeries, creative studios and wineries.
Oliver’s Brighton describes itself as a one-of-a-kind experience for fans of Harry Potter and the Wizarding World. The shop sells over 500 officially licensed items ranging in price from £1 to £600, including sweets and collectables.
“Independent retailers are the lifeblood of UK high streets, offering specialist products and services blended with unique knowledge and passion for their community,” read a statement from Indie Retail.
“The Best Small Shops competition, managed by the Independent Retailers Confederation, celebrates the commitment and creativity of independent retailers on the UK’s high streets and the central role they play in their local area.”
The 25 shortlisted retailers will now have the chance to attend the competition final reception held on November 5th at the House of Commons, where they will meet with MPs, trade representatives and industry peers. It’s here that the winner of this year’s awards will be revealed.
