Sega debuts Sonic on Android; DreamWorks offers $1m in total cash prizes.

APP ROUND UP: Sonic and Turbo Racing League

Sega of America and Sega Europe have revealed Sonic the Hedgehog for Android.

The Sega Genesis favourite will be available on Google Play for £1.99. It has been optimised with widescreen support and exclusive features for mobile phones.

In addition, the new update allows gamers to unlock Sonic’s pals Tails and Knuckles as playable characters on mobile for the first time.

Sonic the Hedgehog is currently available for iOS through the App Store, with the new content offered as a free update for existing gamers.

Meanwhile, DreamWorks Animation is looking to make mobile history with its Turbo League Racing app and the $1,000,000 Shell-Out Contest (presented by Verizon).

The game, which is inspired by the upcoming film Turbo about a snail who gains super speed, will feature the first contest of its kind to shell-out one million dollars in total cash prizes.

It will be available on all mobile carriers, however, fans who play the game on a Verizon device will have access to exclusive content from the film, as well as unique game customisation options and insider tips and tricks on gameplay.
