APPAREL MONTH: Sega selects TV Mania

TV Mania is joining the ever growing stable of Sonic the Hedgehog licensees, following a deal with Sega Europe.

In an agreement brokered by Fremantle, TV Mania will develop apparel and accessory lines for babies, children, teenagers and adults for the GAS territories – Germany, Austria and Switzerland).

Items including t-shirts, socks and accessories will be available from July/August, with prices ranging from E3.00 and E8.99.

European fashion retailing giant Takko, which has more than 1,700 stores on the continent and is one of Germany’s biggest fashion retail outlets, is already on board to stock the new product lines.

"We’re very excited to work with TV Mania on this new range of Sonic the Hedgehog apparel and accessories," said Sissel Henno, head of brand licensing Europe at Sega. "Sonic’s popularity hasn’t waned in his 22 years as the fastest hedgehog around.

"The brand goes from strength to strength – as this significant deal proves, with the further expansion of our reach in the GAS territories."

Brigitte Kotthoff, VP of sales at TV Mania, added: "We are very excited to work with Sega to launch a full range of Sonic the Hedgehog apparel. The heritage of Sonic and his iconic look is certain to drive the products to retail success."
