Following the launch of Iftah Ya Simsim, the Arabic version of Sesame Street, in the MENA region, Arabian Licensing Company (ALC) has been selected to manage the TV show.
Sesame Workshop and Bidaya Media – the production joint venture between Sesame Workshop and Mubadala Development – has appointed ALC, who will now manage the kids’ series in the UAE, GCC and Middle East regions.
The show premiered on SpaceToon TV, across eight broadcasters in September this year.
ALC will now develop a full-scale licensing programme, which will feature a wide range of products and retail promotions for the series.
The deal with Bidaya Media includes the use of domestic characters for the MENA markets, and global characters for the global markets.
Fayez Weiss Al-Sabbagh, chairman of ALC, said: “We are proud to represent Iftah Ya Simsim, which is part of the global Sesame Street family that provides engaging educational content to enrich the lives of children around the world.
“The charming characters and excellent writing and performances are sure to enjoy a very strong response among licensees, retailers and consumers alike."
