Advanstar reports 10% increase in attendance; record numbers from Japan, India and South America.

Attendance up at Licensing Expo

Last month’s Licensing Expo was one of the most successful shows yet, Advanstar has confirmed.

More than 15,000 licensing professionals attended over the three days – a ten per cent increase on last year’s event.

Attendance from retailers continued to grow, with a 14 per cent increase over the previous year with many using the newly introduced Retail Buyers Lounge for meetings throughout the three days.

Retailers in attendance included Target, Toys R Us, Argos, Sainbury’s, Kohl’s, H&M, Amazon, BHS, Foot Locker, Marshalls, Old Navy, Claire’s, Carrefour and Forever 21 among others.

Significant increases in attendance (20 per cent plus) were seen from the mobile, publishing, gaming, food and beverage and automobile sectors.

One in every three visitors came from outside the US, with attendance from Japan growing by 35 per cent and a 20 per cent rise in visitors from South America (driven by Brazil and Chile).

"The showfloor buzzed with business being done and the feedback from exhibitors and attendees was overwhelmingly positive," said Jessica Blue, VP of Licensing Expo. "We saw more attendees then ever before and many have commented that the show was much easier to navigate and, therefore, more productive. The Expo team is so excited to begin building on this success for 2014."

More than 70 per cent of the 2013 showfloor space was re-booked for the 2014 event. Licensing Expo 2014 will take place from June 17th to 19th at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, Las Vegas.
