Featuring 16 games, classic animation and sounds from the original series, the new app blends education, action and creativity.

Bagpuss goes digital with first gaming app

Classic children’s property Bagpuss is going digital with a new official gaming app for iOS and Android.

In a partnership brokered by Peahen Games, Bagpuss licensing agent Coolabi has teamed with Daredevil Development and the British animation company, Smallfilms to create the new digital platform.

Designed for kids aged three and up, the new game app blends education, creativity and action in a variety of games based on the popular children’s series.

With 16 games in tow, the Bagpuss app encourages learning, letter and number skills as well as problem solving through three different stages of difficulty.

The gaming app will be available from the Apple App store, Amazon Kindle store and Google Play with all versions priced at £1.99.

The app also provides pictorial and spoken instructions for each game with animation, sound and music based on the original 13 episode Bagpuss series and features games such as Mending Pictures, finding Mice, The Marvellous mechanical Mouse Organ, What’s the Time, Find Gabriel and more.

Each game will also feature the voice of Dan Postgate from Smallfilms, son of Bagpuss’ co-creator, Oliver Postgate.

“Even though only 13 episodes were recorded, Bagpuss – both the show and the character – has remained a hot for 40 years,” said Postgate.

“This app faithfully reflects the images, sounds and themes that have made Bagpuss a hit for 40 years. Children, and their parents will love it.”
