Animal lovers across the UK can cross another item of the Christmas list, as Battersea Dogs and Cats Home teams with Penguin Books to launch a new festive title.
Christmas at Battersea: True Stories of Miracles and Hope features a foreword from Battersea ambassador, Paul O’Grady as well as a collection of stories based on the real life stories of Battersea’s volunteers, staff and rescued animals.
The decision to release the title follows the success of the launch of Battersea’s first book, Lost and Found back in January.
The new release now coincides with the final episode of the third season of O’Grady’s award-winning TV series, For the Love of Dogs.
One of the stories to feature in the new title is from Battersea volunteer, Helle Johansen and tells the tale of a life of hardship and eventual rehoming of her dog Faith.
“To me, Faith’s story is what Christmas is all about,” said Johansen.
“People coming together to help those in need, no matter if they have got two legs of four.
“After finding Faith in such a sad state so near to Christmas, we were praying she would make it through the holidays, and we’re so glad she did. Faith’s story is certainly one full of hope and love, and we know it will bring such joy to anyone lucky enough to read it this Christmas.”
Royalties from the sale of the book will go towards helping Battersea continue to look after thousands of lost, abandoned and unwanted animals who come through the charity’s doors every year.
Christmas at Battersea: True Stories of Miracles and Hope is now available to purchase online at www.battersea.org.uk, at the Battersea shop and major retailers including Amazon, ASDA, Morrisons and WHSmiths.
