BBC Worldwide launches first educational app

BBC Worldwide has launched its first educational app in the form of Hey Duggee: The Counting Badge, developed in partnership with Scary Beasties.

The app is priced at £2.99/$2.75 and is available to download now from the App Store, Google Play and the Amazon App Store on iOS and Android devices.

The app has Early Years Foundation Stage numeracy learning objectives at its core and offers a rich mix of engaging counting tasks, while automatically-adjusting difficulty levels ensure that the app caters for the varying abilities of Hey Duggee fans from two to six years-old.

The app sees young players engaging in such activities as memory games and counting alongside favourite characters including Hey Duggee, Naughty Monkey and the Punky Penguins, all the while improving basic early years knowledge.

Hey Duggee has an impressive global footprint in over 150 territories, including strong results in China, where it has had over 732 million combined views on streaming platforms Tencent and iQIYI since launch.

The BAFTA and Emmy award-winning show has been a break-out hit on CBeebies in the UK and consistently ranks as one of the Top 3 programmes on the channel. It is also available on the Amazon Video streaming service.

The new app is one of seven currently available, which have reached over a million combined downloads.
