BBC Worldwide has revealed a new director of live events for its UK business.
Stephen Davies (pictured) will be responsible for all live events in the UK, as well as coordinating deals across all BBC Worldwide’s regions.
Davies previously held the role of director of audio and music and motion gallery.
The Live Events business includes live shows and tours based around brands such as Doctor Who, Walking With Dinosaurs and Top Gear, which last year recorded a total of 1.8 million ticketed attendees.
Notable additions to the portfolio in the last two years have been Cbeebies Live arena tours, the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular and the Hairy Bikers – Larger than Live theatre tour.
It is also responsible for visitor attractions including the Doctor Who Experience in Cardiff, the Deadly Challenge at Longleat and the Orbi joint venture with Sega, which opens in Japan next month.
Meanwhile, Nicholas Brett, director of publishing, BBC Worldwide UK, assumes responsiblity for managing all publishing for the business, taking over Davies’ current role in the firm’s various book publishing joint ventures.
Philip Murphy, the current MD of live events, is leaving BBC Worldwide to launch a new business.
