Benedict Cumberbatch, Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett join cast of Jungle Book: Origins

Benedict Cumberbatch will voice Shere Khan, while Christian Bale will play Bagheera in Warner Bros’ Jungle Book: Origins.

Cate Blanchett and Naomie Harris have also joined the film’s cast and will voice Kaa the snake and Nisha the female wolf, respectively..

The film, directed by Andy Serkis, is a darker version of Rudyard Kipling’s classic story, claims The Hollywood Reporter.

Cumerbatch’s Shere Khan will hit screens one year after Idris Elba voices the character in Disney’s live action version of The Jungle Book.

Disney’s version boasts a voice cast which also features Bill Murray as Baloo, Christopher Walken as King Louie and Scarlett Johansson as Kaa the snake.

Jungle Book: Origins, will land in cinemas on October 21st, 2016 while Disney’s The Jungle Book will arrive a year earlier on October 9th, 2015.
