BLE 2013: The Rastamouse Company to bring all UK licensing activity in-house

The Rastamouse Company, the rights holders to popular show Rastamouse, has made a strategic decision to bring all UK licensing and merchandising activity in-house.

The move comes just as the firm starts production on the next 26 episodes of Rastamouse acquired by the BBC.

The Company had previously appointed DHX Media to represent the brand in the UK and worldwide, but will now take over the management of all UK brand activities. DHX Media will continue to represent Rastamouse licensing and TV distribution across the rest of the world.

“Rastamouse has enjoyed phenomenal success both at home and abroad in a relatively short amount of time since launch," said Greg Boardman, executive producer, Rastamouse, and co-founder of The Rastamouse Company.

"The new and third season of Rastamouse brings fresh stories and opportunities to further grow the already strong connection with kids and families.

"It is a natural progression for us to now represent the brand in its entirety in the UK. This strategic decision enables us to evolve the Rastamouse brand and use the creators’ vision to take it to the next level.

"We look forward to meeting with both new and existing licensees and retailers at BLE this year, with a view to rolling out lots more Rastamouse products and projects in the months to come.”

Rastamouse has made the move into music, radio, apps, toys, games and consumer products since arriving in 2011, and alongside the new series, The Rastamouse Company is working on a second album under its deal with EMI Records as well as new episodes for CBeebies radio.
